She is survived by her husband of 48 years, William McLean, her daughters Tracy Kelley, Sydney Porter, and Samme Lansdowne, her step-sons Michael McLean and Roger McLean, her granddaughters Jamie Magda, Janese Pierson, Casey McCall, and Daphane Porter, her grandsons, Joshua Kelley and Samuel Kelley, and at least nine great grandchildren.
Helen graduated from Arkansas City High School in Arkansas City, Kansas. She married Charlie Littlejohn in 1940 and moved to Oregon, working in the shipyards during WWII. She had a sewing shop in Reno, Nevada. She married William McLean of Petaluma CA in 1960 and moved back to Arkansas City, Kansas to care for her mother. The couple operated a vacuum cleaner repair shop and a sewing shop out of their home. In 2000, she moved to Houston, Texas to be near her youngest daughter, Samme.
Helen was an excellent seamstress, and made all of her children's clothes. She loved making wedding and prom dresses, and quilts for the great grandchildren. She enjoyed her flower garden, and watching birds. She especially loved the children in her life. After raising her own two daughters, Tracy and Sydney, she adopted one of her granddaughters, Samme, and helped raise two other granddaughters, Jamie and Janese. She even cared for her great grandson, Ian.
A memorial brick for Helen will be placed at the Clear Lake City Freeman Branch Library, across the street from her last residence.
